‘Uprising’ / ‘BASH’ Update:
Our two September events, The Uprising Gaming Mini-Con and BASH Anime/Cosplay event now have a Facebook presence. It’s fairly minimal at the moment, but if we can get 25 followers, we can expand into two event specific web-pages, so if you’re keen, and have a FB Account, check ‘em out.

GenCon Oz 2010 Cancelled – ‘Uprising’ / ‘BASH’ Are Go!
Brisbane’s gaming nerds will not be denied, so forces across the city are in the process of formulating and planning activities to be run across the weekend formerly to be filled by GenCon Oz 2010.
We’ll be doing our part by hosting a number of gaming events in and around our Ace Comics and Games Annerley Store under the ‘Uprising’ banner, and organizing screenings and cosplay events at the Tribal Theatre on 345 George Street, Brisbane, under the ‘BASH’ (Brisbane Anime Show) Banner.
These events will take place on the weekend of the 25th and 26th, and admission prices will by $10 for the day or $15 for the weekend.
Admission to ‘Uprising’ events gets you automatic admission into ‘BASH’ events (and vice versa), and players who register for the L5R Kotei or Magic Pre-Release will get free entry into both events as part of their registration fee.
There may be an additional fee for certain events, depending on outlay by organizers.
So far, the events we’ve managed to confirm are:
Uprising –
- A Magic ‘Scars of Mirrodin’ Pre-Release Tournament,
- A Legend of the 5 Rings CCG Kotei Tournament,
- The National Warmachine / Hordes Tournament,
- A GoPlay! Event highlighting Indie & Small Press Boardgames;
- Warhammer 40k tournament.
BASH (Brisbane Anime SHow) – presented in conjunction with our friends at Madman Entertainment ( http://madman.com.au ):
- Anime Screenings (Program pending),
- Cosplay Competition/Show.
We will also be accepting submissions from people wishing to organize games.
We appreciate that we’re not giving a lot of time, but on the other hand, we’re also aware that many GM’s and organizers will have material prepped for GenCon Oz and be just busting for a chance to show it off…

After you’re done exploring the Red Box, you can find all the rules for the 4th Edition game in the Rules Compendium, create the iconic characters you want with Heroes of the Fallen Lands and get ready to expand your campaign with the Dungeon Master’s Kit, Monster Vault, and Dungeon Tiles Master Sets.
Just for participating you’ll take home the pregenerated character sheet of the character you played. If you DM the game, you’ll take home the adventure itself, a poster map of the encounter areas, and the tokens used in the adventure. To satisfy your curiosity, here’s a quick description of the adventure!
Sunderpeak Temple
Long a bastion of good on the edges of the wilderness, Sunderpeak Temple has succumbed to an unknown threat. You have been tasked to journey to the site of the temple and find out what has befallen its residents, as the priests are needed to destroy an enchanted skill imbued with necromantic magic. Will you face down the dark denizens that dwell within and learn the truth of the temple’s fate? A Dungeons & Dragons adventure designed for 4-6 pregenerated characters of 2nd level.
